The Environmental Foundation of Jamaica has established significant relationships with government organisations, local donors, international and local organisations, academic institutions among other key stakeholders working in the areas of our mandate. These partnerships and networks have proved very beneficial to the work of the Foundation, our members and grantees. For the last 2 years, we have recorded over 100% in the ratio of leveraged funds, or the funds matched – in cash or kind – by partners. After a record 163% last financial year, the Foundation again was able to maximise each EFJ dollar for $1.15 despite the lower funding levels recorded in 2011-2012.
The EFJ has also been playing an ambassadorial role for our members and grantees in national and regional policy-making discussions and fora such as the International Union on Conservation of Nature (IUCN) where the Foundation served as Vice Chair of the Caribbean Sub-Regional Committee, the Network of Environmental Funds for Latin America and the Caribbean (RedLAC), the Government of Jamaica’s Partnership for Transformation team, the Civil Society Consulting Group (ConSOC) for the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) in Jamaica, and the Hazard Risk Reduction and Adaptation to Climate Change (HRRACC); and Environment and Planning, National Vision 2030 Thematic Working Groups on (i) Climate Change and Disaster Risk Resilience and (ii) Environment and Natural Resources Management/Sustainable Urban and Rural Development.
