The
Environmental Foundation of Jamaica
2nd Annual Public Lecture
The Environmental Foundation of Jamaica (EFJ) staged its 2nd Annual
Public Lecture on October 26, 2006 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel
under the theme, “Social Toxins and our Children: Can the Pollution
be Stopped?” Professor Elsa Leo-Rhynie, Principal, University of
the West Indies, Mona Campus, presented the Lecture.
The EFJ’s Lecture Series is intended to raise public awareness on issues
affecting the Environment and Child Sectors. This Lecture covered
information on issues affecting our children, legislation being enacted
on child issues, and people and organizations that have been working assiduously
to address some of the root causes of the problems our children face
and in many cases providing much needed assistance to them directly.
The audience was engaged for approximately one hour as Professor Leo-Rhynie
in her usual calm and forthright manner delivered a superb lecture.
For the benefit of those who were unable to attend, the content
of Professor Leo-Rhynie’s presentation can be viewed here. (1.5 MB)
