In July 2009, EFJ awarded 43 new grants to non-governmental organisations, community based organisations and academic institutions under the broad areas of Child Survival and Development (AID) and Environmental Management (PL480). The grants which will be implemented over the next 1-2 years will be tackiling critical needs in each of the two sectors. Project themes include upper watershed management, alternative energy, solid waste and waste water recycling, early childhood interventions, children with special needs and disabilities, adolescents-at-risk among others.
